Welcome
Covington Arts is used to describe the arts community here in Covington. The Economic Development Department in the City of Covington works to enhance the City's economic development through the arts. The long-term Arts District vision is to grow Covington as an arts destination widely recognized for its thriving arts community, cultural institutions, and historic preservation, and its short-term and ongoing vision is to provide any available resources to the existing stakeholders in the community to aid their success. While the economic viability of any business it is not the responsibility of the Economic Development department, the City serves to find ways to identify external resources that can raise the profile of Covington as an arts and culture destination; it is the responsibility of each stake holding business to harness these resources for their individual means.
The main goals for the Economic Department's Arts initiative are to:
- Strengthen and support Covington's arts and cultural organizations, artists, and artist-owned businesses.
- Create an environment that will attract artists and the creative class to Covington.
- Increase art audiences and participation in the arts.
The Artisans' Enterprise Center and this web site were presented to the public in December 2007 as tangible resources to facilitate our way towards achieving these goals and sharing it with the public.

THE ARTISAN’S ENTERPRISE CENTER (AEC)

The AEC is used for the development and promotion of the Arts in Covington. It is located on the first floor of 25 West Seventh Street in downtown Covington. The facility serves as a space for artists and art organizations to exchange information and commune. It also provides a free educational space, a juried gallery space, and a conference room for artists to use at their leisure for any occasion. The AEC also offers art exhibitions throughout the year, some additional programming in the way of lectures and performances, as well as public space for the community to share and use. The office of the Arts District Manager is also located in the building.
The nature of the AEC is to work to identify, channel and utilize current and available resources to the betterment of the existing stakeholders within the local arts community. |

WHY MOVE TO COVINGTON?
Covington is a city that is steeped in history and creativity. The City's historic and preserved downtown infrastructure naturally attracts artists and the creative classes. With a history in the arts that spans 200 years, Covington still maintains this legacy today, with a large population of artists living and working here. The City does not have any project finance incentives to offer Artists at this time, but we do have some attractive incentives to consider when purchasing a building either as a homeowner of business, for everyone, not just artists.
